Ohio Foreclosure Intervention Specialist
Association's History
The Association was organized in
2006 as
a continuation of the collaborative
spirit of the Foreclosure Intervention
Specialist (FIS) training class
conducted in Medina, Ohio in the spring
of 2006 by Home Ownership Matters owner
and instructor Mildred Wilkins. The
students agreed to meet after the class
was over to discuss how they could help
each other and the general public with
foreclosure problems. After two
meetings it became clear that an
association geared for professional
development of its members in addition
to helping the general public was
needed. Therefore, the formation of an
Association was proposed to the meeting
attendees whom became charter members
and unanimously adopted the by-laws in
August 2006.
